ABOUT MHUKAHURU DARWANDALE RESORT, ZIMBABWE

Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort, the latest addition to the Mhukahuru Collection of unique destinations (www.MhukahuruCollection.Com ), is a celebration of Africa’s unspoilt natural beauty.  The property is on a quest for a net carbon footprint of zero.  Run by entrepreneurs with a love for the outdoors, a conservation mindset, and respect for grassroot community engagement and participation Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort sits on 10 hectares of virgin land in one of Zimbabwe’s renowned national and recreational parks, 70 kilometres north west of Harare.  Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort is a few metres from Manyame Lake (formerly Darwandale Dam).  Manyame Lake is estimated to have a capacity of 480200 mega litres and supplies water for irrigation to surrounding farms, mining operations  as well as recreational activities. UNVEILING DARWANDALE DAM VIEW RESORT

A sustainable project like Darwandale Dam View Resort must be launched in phases to be fully appreciated. The first phase which will be launched in the final quarter of 2021 encompasses a 100 seater restaurant under thatch with breath taking views of the Manyame Lake.  No celebration is possible without a feast, especially in Africa!  It is therefore no surprise that dining at our restaurant is the first experience of Darwandale Dam View Resort to be unveiled.  The restaurant’s menu and setting is a unique fusion of some of the diverse culinary flavours of Africa that the patriarch of Mhukahuru Collection has experienced and enjoyed on his many journeys traversing the continent, diaspora and the world at large.  Included on this journey, is the journey of the palate and taste buds; A personal take on the flavours inspired by the famed SeSwa of Botswana, the Shisa Nyama of South Africa, the Nyama Choma of Kenya, not forgetting the many dishes rooted in Zimbabwe and celebrated the world over. Ingredients for the menu including the game meat is sourced responsibly in line with the sustainability programme of the Zimbabwe National Parks.
In a world where staying indoors has become the norm, Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort is an open invitation to rediscover the outdoors safely and sustainably.  Activities at the Resort include bird watching, quad biking, jet skiing, boat cruises and fishing.  Events from weddings to team building getaways are included in the initial launch. Whether you are travelling solo, as a couple or a group, this is one destination to add to your bucket list when you visit Zimbabwe. From the onset, Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort has engaged the local community. Borrowing from the African saying Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu (I am, because you are), the Resort seeks to engage the communities in which it operates as it recognises that they are key stake holders.  Whenever possible materials for the construction of the Resort have been sourced locally.  The workforce for Mhukahuru Darwandale Resort is predominantly drawn from the surrounding areas.  Fresh produce served in the restaurant is 100 percent organic and grown by local farmers. Women farmers are especially encouraged to partner with Darwandale Resort. Phase two launch will be announced in the new year and will include accommodation.
